Summary of Senior EXCEL Meeting

Graduation

Graduation is Thursday June 5 at 7:00 P.M. at the Breslin Center at MSU.  Graduates must arrive at 6:00 PM.  Tickets are NOT required for graduation.  Please be respectful of our families, friends, and East Lansing traditions.  If you have questions before graduation please contact Ms. Tabor, Ms. Kowalski, or Ms. Mueller

Diploma Request Cards

If a student chooses to have a faculty or staff member present them their diploma, the 3x5 card is to be turned in to Ms. Kowalski in the library no later than Wednesday May 21 at 3:00 P.M. No exceptions will be made.   Please do NOT request an exception to the deadline.  The 3x5 card must contain the student’s printed name, the staff member’s printed name and the staff member’s signature.  A printed email with the staff member’s agreement may be stapled to the notecard if a signature is not able to be obtained.  If students do not turn in a diploma request card Ms. Schwarzbek will hand the diploma to the student.  

Graduation Practice

Please arrive at the high school night activities entrance on Tuesday June 3, 2025 at 10:00 for an 10:15 AM departure via school bus to the Breslin Center.  It is expected that students ride to and from graduation practice on the bus.  Parking is not available on campus.  

Dress school appropriately as the Breslin Center is a place of business.  Please refrain from chewing gum in the Breslin arena.  Upon arriving at the Breslin center please sit in section 117. 

Students will return to ELHS via school bus at the conclusion of graduation practice at approximately 1:00.  

Graduation Day Details

No tickets are required for graduation.  

There is plenty of construction in and around East Lansing and MSU. Budget extra time to get to and from the Breslin Center on graduation day.  Parking is complimentary in Ramp 7, Lot 63 or 126 near Breslin. 

Graduates are expected to arrive at 6:00 PM.   Graduation will promptly start at 7:00 P.M.  Please enter Gilbert Pavilion (southeast doors)

The Breslin Center has a no bag policy.   Students and guests will go through security at Breslin.  

All students must have gowns through Herff Jones. Please see Ms. Tabor in the main office immediately if you have not purchased a gown.  Graduation is a formal event.  Please dress appropriately under your gown and wear appropriate shoes.   There are steep slopes and stairs, please be cautious of heels.  

Your cap and tassels are yours to keep.  You may decorate your cap appropriately. Write your name inside your cap.  Any regalia (cords/stoles) not earned at convocation will need to be approved by Ms. Schwarzbek prior to graduation on Thursday June 5. 

There is no storage for phones, keys, or other valuables at graduation practice or on graduation day.  Do NOT bring any unnecessary items – including your phone.  

Return of School Materials

All district owned textbooks, uniforms, library books, and computers/chromebooks and chargers must be returned.  If materials are not returned students will be charged for their replacements.  Computers/chromebooks and chargers may be turned in during EXCEL on May 22 to the ELHS library. All materials are due on May 23.  Lunch account and transcript fees must also be paid.  

Diploma Pickup

Diplomas may be picked up in the main office beginning Monday June 9 – Friday June 13 from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. and 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM.  Diplomas will be distributed once all fines have been paid (including district owned devices, textbooks, library books, lunch accounts, transcript fees, uniform replacement, etc.)  

Other

    1. Please check the spelling of your name on the tentative diploma program in the library. 
    2. Final transcripts must be requested through parchment. Select “hold for final grades”.  Final Transcripts will NOT be sent automatically.  
    3.  Seniors must save any documents they want to save from district storage no later than Friday June 13 at 3:00 PM.  
    4. Please complete the Senior Survey in the Class of 2025 Google Classroom.
