Acknowledging Our Lands
Land Acknowledgement
East Lansing High School occupies the ancestral, traditional, and contemporary Lands of the Anishinaabeg-Three Fires Confederacy of Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi peoples. The High School resides on Land ceded in the 1819 Treaty of Saginaw. We recognize and uplift the sovereignty of the twelve federally-recognized nations in Michigan and all other legally unrecognized nations. We provide this land acknowledgement to educate our students and community members about Indigenous communities and their histories.
