Bond Updates

Fall 2025

Progress continues across our major projects, with both the new administration building and the high school addition moving forward on schedule and on budget. At the Towar site, the new administration building is taking shape: exterior wall framing at the entryway is complete with wall sheathing underway, and trusses and sheathing over the entry canopy are finished. Inside, additional metal stud framing is in place, many interior door frames have been installed, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work is ongoing. Insulation is being applied to the underside of the roof sheathing, while crews also work on flushing and cleaning the main water supply line.

Summer 2025

East Lansing High School

The construction work at East Lansing High School will begin this summer! This construction is a result of the community approval of the 2024 Safety, Security and Accessibility bond proposal. The high school will be getting a new secure entrance and new front-facing main office spaces. Additional cafeteria space will also be added, along with an interior ramp, a “learning stairs” space and additional flex space for our students. This work is scheduled to begin on June 9, 2025, and continue throughout the 2025–2026 school year.

As part of this project, access to our current main entrance (Door 1) will be affected. During construction, the new temporary main entrance will be Door 8 (also known as the night activities entrance). We kindly ask all students and families to use Door 8 to enter the building for the duration of the construction period. Please be sure to follow all posted construction signage and directions for your safety and convenience.

Towar Administration Building

Construction continues to progress steadily at the new Towar Administration Building. Following a recent visit from the mechanical engineer, corrections have been made to the in-ground plumbing to ensure compliance with project specifications. Structural steel placement is nearly complete and remains ongoing. A hole has been bored in the foundation wall to accommodate the incoming water service line, and risers for both fire suppression and water service systems have been successfully installed in the slab area and through the foundation wall. Additionally, crews are actively working on the filling and compaction of soils to prepare the building pad for the next phase of construction.

Winter 2024

Our architects and construction manager have been meeting weekly with representatives from Central Office and the high school to continue design and planning for the new Central Administration Building and ELHS addition! We’ll be going out to bid for the central administration building January 21, 2025 with anticipated Board action on recommendations at the end of February. We anticipate going out to bid on the high school addition April 15, 2025.
