Donley Nut/Peanut Allergy Policy

Donley Nut/Peanut Allergy Policy

Each year we have students in our learning community with severe nut and/or peanut allergies. Some students experience a reaction from airborne exposure to nuts or peanuts. A life-threatening reaction (anaphylactic shock) can occur even when the allergens are airborne. Thank you in advance for your assistance and cooperation in maintaining a safe school community.

The official policy at Donley School is as follows:

All food at Donley must be nut/peanut free. It is important that all areas of the school are nut/peanut free. Students may not have peanuts, peanut butter, or any food containing peanuts or tree nuts in the lunch room or in their classroom.

If you are sending food to school for an event, or a birthday treat to be eaten in the classroom, please keep in mind it must be free from peanut butter, peanut oils, peanuts, and all other nuts or nut products.

We thank you for your willingness to comply with this policy and ask for your continued support to ensure a safe environment for all students. We understand that this may be a challenge for many families when trying to plan meals and snacks for children. Thank you in advance for helping your children understand the importance of working together to keep other children safe.
